Glad you’re getting a break. I’m sitting by the pool in the South of France (still jealous?) – but as a non-US person, I’m less struck by the significance of 04 July. Nevertheless – enjoy the holiday!
Yes, I am very much still envious of the South of France thing Although… We just drove to town in our pajamas. It is drizzling and we picked up a slew of fresh pastries for the whole family and I am sitting here sipping a bold cup of coffee nibbling on said pastries and watching my girls play and it’s pretty heavenly actually. Simple – and no South of France – but still heavenly. Thanks, Yvann!
Happy Independence Day, Aidan, and family. I’m not American, nor do I live in America (but I have wonderful friends who do) and I think this is a perfect time to do some thinking and reflecting about the nature of independence and freedom. In fact, I’m going to make a list right now about all the things I am grateful to be free of : starting with sickness, poverty, lack, addiction……
Thanks, Tessa. I do think this is a great day (as is any day really) to take stock of all of the things we are so fortunate to be free of. We had the most amazing night with the girls. We let them stay up WAY past their bedtime and we watched as they ate ice cream and ran races on the green grass and waved sparklers… They were so happy and I felt such a sucker punch of happiness and gratitude myself. Happy to have this occasion to record that actually.
We will be spending the majority of the day cleaning up the massive mess our recent storm and power outage created. Time will be made for the little guy to have some fun in his pool and we will dress him in red/white/blue and let him wave his new flag around proudly. Tonight will be simple, but perfect, with just some sparklers to wave around and making S’mores. Your morning on Cape Cod with the family does sound heavenly and I hope the rest of your time there is the same. I feel a post coming on about gratitude for blessings, small and large. Partly inspired by your advocation to JUST WRITE WHAT YOU FEEL. I worried that the post I wrote last night would somehow be judged, but then I recalled how you said during the “Comments” post conversation that we come here to write, to put out OUR words, worry free of judgement and so I did just that and it was a wonderful release. Thank you.
I hope you had a wonderful night with your family. Ours was just as you described – simple and perfect. Full of ice cream smiles and sparkler dances. Wouldn’t change a thing. It means the world that something I said prompted you to write what you feel. Look forward to that gratitude post… Thanks, Amanda
