More or Less?

Posted On: 09.19.12

Those of you who are loyal ADR readers know that I publish one post per day (Monday-Friday) and that these posts are, generally speaking, medium to long in length. I am considering switching things up and posting several (okay, 1-5) shorter posts (like this one) a day. I will of course pen longer pieces too, but they will be mixed up with a slew of silly and serious bite-sized posts (questions, quotes, pictures, links, etc.). What do you think? Keep things as they are or shake it up a bit? I’d love to know what you think!

Oh, and...

Soccer Sisters. Both of my big girls are enrolled in after school soccer (Super Soccer Stars - love it) and Big Girl will begin playing in a local soccer league this spring. On the weekends, we've been playing soccer with the girls in a nearby schoolyard. Husband played Division One soccer and I played soccer through high school. Needless to say, it's great fun for us to play soccer with our girls and to imagine them playing soccer going forward. But this has me wondering if it is okay/healthy for us to desire certain things/activities for our wee ones? I figure it's all good as long as the kids like these things/activities and are having fun, right? Do your kiddos play the sports you once played, do the things you once did?

  1. I think that sounds like a great idea. I think small changes like that can be so energizing and really get lots of creative juices flowing!

My son and daughter both played sports and loved it. My son ended getting a schlorship for Gymnastics to go to school and the experience far exceeded his expectations.(Conference champions, ring, etc) For my children, the two went hand in hand. They tried harder in school so I would allow the sports to continue. It worked so very well for me and them.
Fun, very much so, but also life lessons along the way.( Respect, Teamwork, disappointment, etc.)

However you choose to post is just plain wonderful for me. Your words have seen me through some rough times- guiding me just at the right moment. Thank You !

I think it is worth a try. If you don’t like the feel/response to shaking things up, then switch back. You never know unless you try.

I think it’d be fun- It would definitely give me reason to stalk your blog more than once a day! As long as you promise the longer ones still mixed in…because you have some amazing long posts and stories to tell. I would definitely miss those if they weren’t around.

Selfishly, I would love to get more than one email a day with ADR wisdom, but please do what you feel comfortable doing. Perhaps Revisit how you felt the month you “took off” and ask yourself if you really want to be posting more than once. It sounds like a commitment even if the posts are short, but I am not a blogger, so I am not sure exactly how much time/energy is needed. Thank you for always sharing with us!

  6. I think you’re an incredible writer and short or long-winded posts will be equally well-received.

Yes, Aidan, I think you should change things up a bit. Change is always good. Looking forward to your new posts. God bless. :-)

  8. I prefer fewer longer posts. Short posts multiple times per day seems more like tweeting or Facebook posts, rather than blogging. I enjoying getting the deep thoughts and analysis in a blog, not just the play-by-play of someone’s day.

  9. I enjoy your blog very much as is (and I dislike change generally), but more importantly — it’s your blog, do what you like! I’ll still come here and read your words, however many of them you write!

I agree with others that either format is just fine with me, but it might be fun to try shorter posts scattered throughout the day . . . with a few longer posts published every other day or so. Whatever works for you.

Personally, I sometimes find it tough enough to write one somewhat-sort-of-well-I’m-trying meaningful post daily, so I commend you either way!
