Today is my birthday. At 3:38 this morning, I turned 34. Not young. Not old.
Today is my birthday. And I will spend it doing the things I love: drinking coffee, writing words, wrangling girls, talking and laughing with people I love. There will be school drop-offs and pick-ups, ballet classes, a Preschool Picnic if the weather obliges, and, finally, a quiet dinner out with my man. There will be moments of looking back, and forward, and in.
Today is my birthday. And the odd thing, the beautiful thing, is that I feel good, optimistic, full. About where I am. About where I’ve been. About where I’m headed – even if I don’t know exactly where that is. (We never do, do we? And isn’t this what makes life so amazing?)
Thank you all for your love and support over this past year of my life. It’s been a good one.
♥
Are you big on birthdays or a bit sheepish about them like I am? How did you spend your last birthday? Do you feel good about where you are today and where you’re headed? At what time of day were you born?

Happy birthday, dear friend! I can’t believe it was three years ago today I wrote this for you: http://www.adesignsovast.com/2009/10/happy-birthday-to-my-newest-friend/
I’m so grateful that we met. Thanks for sharing this road and this swirl of grays with me. Here’s to many years ahead. xox
“Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations, the weddings, not the great goals achieved. The real milestones are less prepossessing. They come to the door of memory unannounced, stray dogs that amble in, sniff around a bit and simply never leave. Our lives are measured by these.”
― Susan B. Anthony.
You’ve realized this. You are living this. It is amazing and inspiring, A. Enjoy those fabulous strays today as they amble in.
Happyhappyhappydappy birthday, you. xo
(Oh. I was born at 5:34 a.m. during a tornado warning…hmmm…never thought about that.)
Happy Birthday!
Happy, happy birthday. I’m so glad for you that you will have such a wonderful day with the people you love, doing the things you love. I just love birthdays, mine and other people’s. I am turning 30 in January, and I have been thinking a lot about where I’ve been, and where I’m going. Like you, I, too, feel good and optimistic about where I’m headed in life, in love, and elsewhere in this big, complicated existence.
Happy birthday! 34 is a great age. I turned 51 yesterday and spent the day working out, then shopping and lunching with my mom. Three friend’s stopped by separately for tea and hubby brought me a bundle of roses that made me feel like Miss America and took me o my fav sushi spot. Both kids called from college to chat. simplly lovely that I’m where I’m supposed to be!
Happy birthday!! I’ll be 35 in January if it makes you feel a bit younger
. We’re going away for a week without the kiddies when I turn 35 – I’m so excited (not that I don’t adore them but still, haven’t done that since they were born!) A quiet dinner out sounds lovely. Hope you have a great one!
Happy Birthday Aidan! May the day be filled with everything wonderful.
Happy birthday!! It sounds like a wonderful day. I hope it’s filled with sweet smiles and happy moments. Can’t wait to see you soon!!
Happy Birthday, Aidan!
Happy Birthday ! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday to you!! Hope it’s a wonderful day with your family! Curious if this birthday feels any different in the midst of your year without wine?
Happy happy, Aidan! I’m all about celebrating birthdays (and have planned plenty of parties for myself in the past), but don’t do too much reflecting (I do plenty of that the rest of the year and like to take a day off once in a while). Last year, around my birthday, my husband, son and I spent a long weekend in Galena, IL … really, it was to belatedly celebrate our anniversary (which is in October) … but, it also happened to be my birthday week.
Happy Birthday Aidan! I hope your day was amazing!
Happiest Birthday! I hope you managed to enjoy it
Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Aidan, happy birthday to you, and many more in channel 4! I love birthdays, I was born on JUne 17th at 11:38 at night, and my last birthday was spend with my family!
happy happy birthday!! I hope it’s the start of a magical year.
p.s. I’m an October baby, too.
Happy birthday!
I like my birthday — last day of the year — but I like to celebrate quietly. My family has a “birthday week” tradition, too. You get to celebrate for a whole week, with dinners, little treats, and cake. For the last few years I’ve ordered a tiny cake from the bakery that made my wedding cake, and my husband always cooks dinner for me (normally, I cook and he cleans up). He’s not into celebrating his own birthday, though.
Happy belated birthday, Aidan! Hope your day was wonderful, and that the coming year is full of great things.
I absolutely love my July birthday — probably because I share a birthday week with my dad and sister. We called it “Christmas in July” growing up! I was born at 10:21 a.m., and I spent my last birthday at work… oh, the joys of adulthood!
