In the past, tossing the tree out on the sidewalk has made me sad. But this year, I feel anything but sad. I feel excited for the seasons and stories and sweetness to come.

Have you said goodbye to your tree? Are you okay with the holidays being over?

Sweet picture! I am actually finding January really refreshing this year — maybe it’s because when you have little ones, the holidays aren’t that relaxing! — and I’m excited to be back to my little routine of writing, etc. Usually I’m not that into resolutions but this year I have a slew of them and I’m just revving up for what 2013 will bring. So I say…let’s get on with it! xox
I can’t tell you how glad I am the holidays are over. No doubt, I loved all the time we spend with both of our families and good friends, but the excess was out of control. I would love to say goodbye to our tree, but we haven’t yet found the time. This week, I swear, it will be gone this week!
I just took down the tree yesterday. Makes me sad every year and this year was no different. I took solace in some cleaning-out and organizing of the Christmas decorations but that subtle melancholy stayed with me all evening.
We took our tree down before New Years. It was time since we got it right after Thanksgiving and it was getting to be quite the fire hazard. As fun as Christmas is, I always relish in the relative stillness of January.
While we took the tree down on New Years Day, my 3 year old has gotten really into Christmas Carols this year and has still been asking for them. Every couple of days I’m still letting her indulge.
And welcome back!
i feel very ready for 2013 and its new beginnings.
since my family and i are close to becoming global nomads, my word of the year is WAVE.
and i plan to catch it and ride it.
but, as always, i felt sad when it came time to say goodbye to our christmas tree.
so i made my 19yo son “plant” it in our front yard.
it looks great!
as if it’s growing there!
until it dies.
then it will be time to move on . . .
and that will be okay.
