She doesn’t have a million words yet, but she’s collecting more and more, stringing them together, surprising and delighting all of us. What makes me smile and smile big is that her clearest word, by far, is yes.
Yes.
It is a good, happy word. A little word that is also big. A word that is in fact a world. A word I find myself thinking and saying a lot these days – to them, to myself, to life.
Say yes.

Are you good at thinking and saying yes? Were your kids early talkers?

Good question on this mid-week morning. It’s funny…over these past few weeks, I find myself purposely saying “No” to more things so I am able to say “Yes” to those important moments, to have time to think Yes, to say it to Life. Odd, huh?
And now your comment has me thinking… I believe that saying yes to big, important things can, and often does, entail saying no to things along the way. I am thinking about this a lot since my Office Hours chat yesterday, but I realize that saying no to law was ultimately saying yes to a life that would be so much better for me. They are commingled – the yeses and the no’s – aren’t they? Alas, the ever-confusing thing we call Life. xox
Maybe too much! I’m trying to get better at saying no . . . though in some ways could stand to say yes more. Hmmm . . . it’s a tough one.
