An Important Summer
Years from now, I will look back on this summer and smile. That was an important summer, I will think or maybe even say aloud. That was the summer when things became clear, when the pieces began to fit together. That was the summer when I walked away from wine, for good or maybe for now, when I began to rise early to write words, when I began to love the world and myself that much more. That was the summer when I decided to go for it, to replace doubts with dreams. That was the summer that we took the kids to Miami for a little getaway that was actually big, when a sequence of sunrises over the bay brought immense understanding.
