The Answer Is Love
We made dinner reservations at a hip, yummy place downtown called The Highlands, but instead of taking the subway or a taxi, we walked. And walked. We walked along the Hudson River and along the High Line. We looked out at the water and up at a fiery evening sky. We held hands and talked and laughed and shed the stresses of our week. I'd had a rough day, but felt myself snapping back. Smiling.
We happened upon street performers and street poetry and favorite quotes and we drank in the crisp spring air. We took photographs. So many. And an hour and a half or so later, we got there, to our lively little Scottish restaurant and we settled at a little table for two and we were tired. And happy. We ate and ate and talked and talked and shared the bread pudding for dessert. And then we came home and went to bed early and slept like babies until our actual babies woke us up.
It was a beautiful night. One of our best dates ever.
